Wire clamps are the cheapest to manufacture, but they hold no worse than expensive worm clamps. But so that they do not fail, they must be tightened correctly and securely. To do this, it is worth making a simple clamp tool.

Materials:

  • A piece of profile pipe 20x20 mm or thinner;
  • rod 6-8 mm.

The process of making a clamp from a piece of pipe

The clamp will be based on a piece of thin profile pipe 10-15 cm long.

One end of it needs to be cut at 45 degrees.

On the resulting sharp edge, notches are cut, like on a saw.

The workpiece is drilled through from the flat end. The hole should run parallel to the jagged edge.

Part of the pipe wall on the side of the holes should be removed to create open eyes.

After that you need to work on the pin.

It is cut lengthwise to a depth 10 mm greater than the width of the pipe. Then it must be bent behind the cut. To do this, a wedge of half the thickness is cut out in the pin.

The resulting handle is inserted into the tube.

Now to use the tool, take the wire and fold it in half.Its two ends are passed through a loop.

Then the double edge is inserted into the slot on the handle of the clamp.

The notches of the tool should rest between the double edge and the loop. All that remains is to make a couple of turns with the handle to tighten the wire and tilt the tool towards the loop. The wire will bend and lock into place.

After this, the clamp is removed, and the excess length of the clamp is removed.
