Frost in the freezer reduces drawer capacity and uses more energy. In addition, frozen food in the freezer may change taste due to ice.

There is a way to get rid of ice in freezer drawers and prevent it from freezing further. This is a simple method that will not only remove ice, but also whiten, clean and sanitize your freezer.

Required:

  • 1 glass of hot water;
  • 2 tbsp. salt;
  • Sushi sticks;
  • 2 bottles of chlorhexidine;
  • Napkins;
  • Baking soda;
  • Hydrogen peroxide;
  • Glycerol.

Removing ice from the freezer

Unplug the refrigerator, remove frozen foods from the freezer and open the freezer doors for about 2 hours to defrost. Place a cup of hot water on the freezer shelf so the ice will melt faster. Prepare the solution: dilute 2 tbsp in 1 glass of hot water. salt, mix and pour into a spray bottle. Spread the saline solution over the ice on the sides of the freezer.

You don’t have to make a saline solution, but simply put salt on the walls of the freezer; the ice will also melt faster. But salt can scratch plastic and is difficult to wash out, so it's better to use a saline solution.

Use sushi chopsticks to remove any ice that is already coming off the sides of the freezer.

When all the ice has come away from the walls of the refrigerator, disinfect it. To do this, pour 2 bottles of chlorhexidine, which is sold at any pharmacy, into a spray bottle and spray the walls of the refrigerator. Wipe the freezer with clean napkins and remove any deposits that have formed.

If the surface of your freezer is uneven and there are areas that need to be bleached, mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and use a sponge to scrub away any dark spots. This method will also disinfect the walls of the refrigerator.

After this, wipe the freezer with dry wipes, remove excess moisture and let the freezer air for 20-30 minutes.

When the walls of the freezer are completely dry, moisten a dry cloth with glycerin and wipe the refrigerator. Glycerin prevents the appearance of ice and minimizes its formation.

There are various means and methods for cleaning a freezer, but this one is the most reliable and practical.
