When replacing an old outlet with a new one, it happens that short wires come out of the wall, which are not enough for installation. The task becomes much more complicated if they are also made of aluminum with crumbling insulation, since such conductors begin to break off at the slightest movement. Despite not even such difficulties, installing a new outlet is possible, you just need to do everything as follows.

The process of replacing a socket and extending broken wires
You need to remove the old socket from the socket box, having previously de-energized the network. Then it is necessary to strengthen the insulation of old wires if it is crumbling. To do this, a heat-shrinkable tube is put on top and heated with a lighter. You should not wrap electrical tape, as loosening can break off the remaining wires flush with the wall. Only the ends of the wires, 10 mm long, should be left bare.
Next, we take 2-wire WAGO terminal blocks and snap them onto the prepared ends of the short wires. Then we prepare 2 pieces of PVS multi-wire cable with a cross-section of 2.5 sq. mm.
They are inserted into the second entrance of the terminal blocks, and the levers snap into place.
Now we have extended wires that will not be difficult to connect to a new outlet. The core of the PVA wire bends well, which will allow the extended length to be easily bent as needed so that it does not interfere with installation.
Thanks to the use of quick-release terminal blocks, we eliminate excessive loosening of old wires, which minimizes their breakage. There is also no direct contact between copper and aluminum, so this build-up does not oxidize.
