Those who like to spend a lot of time outdoors, far from civilization, are often faced with the inability to recharge their phone. Even if you take a power bank with you, its capacity is only enough for a couple of charges. Having assembled such a mini wind generator, you can charge your gadgets as many times as you like, simply by generating electricity from the wind.

Materials:

  • Aluminum soda cans – 2 pcs.;
  • spokes from a bicycle wheel - 4 pcs.;
  • M6 washers – 2 pcs.;
  • M6 nuts – 8 pcs.;
  • M6 stud;
  • tube with a diameter of 8-10 mm;
  • plywood 10 mm;
  • bearing with an internal diameter of 6 mm;
  • mounting bracket;
  • 12V electric motor;
  • boost converter - http://alii.pub/688n1p
  • 5V USB boost converter - http://alii.pub/5yrdah

Wind generator manufacturing process

To make the generator blades, you need to cut 2 aluminum cans lengthwise.

On the halves at the edges you need to strip the metal for soldering.

These places need to be tinned and spokes from a bicycle wheel soldered to them.

Cans with spokes are soldered to the washers. The result is light blades. A tube is placed between the washers, then the whole thing is put on the pin.Next, we tightly compress the structure with nuts on both sides.

Now we take a piece of plywood and drill it for the bearing. The bearing is pressed into the hole and additionally fixed with glue. We light the mounting bracket on the side.

A small 12 V electric motor is fixed to the corner using zip ties. Then the axis with the blades is clamped with nuts on the bearing.

A plastic gear is screwed onto the axle and secured with nuts. It should be in contact with the gear on the motor shaft. Thus, when the blades turn, the engine must also turn.

A boost converter is soldered to the wires from the engine. We solder a USB connector on long wires to its output. Then we close it all with covers to protect it from precipitation. We take the USB out of the casing.

As a result, we get a small wind generator that can be used to charge your phone.

If the wind is gusty in your area, then it is better to connect a 10 V 2000 µF capacitor in parallel to the motor. With it, charging will be more stable.
