The manufacturing process of a door closer based on a torsion spring in a door hinge
We measure and cut off two plates of 105 mm each from the steel strip with a grinder.
We lay them on a flat surface parallel and symmetrically to each other. Between them we place two elongated nuts, which are in contact with their ends. Align the outer ends of the nuts with the edges of the plates.
In this position, we weld the nuts to the hinge wings, the outer ones to one, and the inner ones to the other. The result was an ordinary door hinge. We round the edges of the nuts so that they do not interfere with rotation during operation.
We drill three holes in the hinge wings for fastening using self-tapping screws.

Using a round rod, we connect the wings of the loop, placing a torsion spring in the middle. Moreover, we rest the ends of the spring against the surfaces of their wings, as a result of which they will set the wings to the position they will occupy when the door leaf is closed.
If we try to increase the angle between the wings, we will feel increasing resistance from the spring. It is this force that will return the open door leaf to the closed position.
All that remains is to install the loop with the torsion spring in its intended place. To do this, close the door leaf and screw one wing of the hinge to the door leaf and the other to the vertical post of the door frame with self-tapping screws.
Since the torsion spring always works to close the door leaf, when opening it, we create a deformation in the spring, the force of which always tends to return the door leaf to the closed position. Therefore, there is no need to specifically fix the blade in the closed position. The torsion spring will do this for us.
