It would seem that a jigsaw is a very simple tool that can only be used to cut workpieces according to previously drawn markings, thereby obtaining a very direct cut. However, there are a few tricks that you may not know about. They allow you to make workpieces of higher quality.

1. Chamfering with a jigsaw

The sole of the jigsaw can be adjusted at an angle.

This is not a secret, but usually this function is used only to obtain an oblique cut. If you adjust the sole and set the parallel stop correctly, you can trim the edge with a jigsaw.

2. Sawing without chipping

When cutting sheet materials, a jigsaw often leaves chips.

To avoid them, you need to make a simple device. Take two blades from a mounting knife and place a jigsaw file between them. Then squeeze it all together with a clamp.

This cutter must be drawn along the cutting line.

As a result, we get two scratches from the tips of the blades.

After this, you need to cut the workpiece exactly between them, and there will definitely be no chips.
