You can install a latch with a combination lock on the wicket or gate. We make such a deadbolt with our own hands from available materials. It is very convenient because you do not need to carry a key with you to open it.

Materials:

  • Profile pipe 30x30 mm;
  • round timber 18 mm;
  • rod 4 mm;
  • M6 bolt;
  • extended nut M6;
  • sheet steel 4 mm.

The process of making a door deadbolt with a code

First of all, we drill out the nuts with a 19 mm drill. Thus, they will fit freely on 18 mm round timber.

Next, take the round timber and mark three marks on it for drilling for the pins. They will have to be located in the middle of the nuts strung on the round timber. Drill blind holes according to the marks using a 4 mm drill.

A rod is driven into the holes and cut. The pins should ultimately protrude by 3-4 mm.

On the faces of the nuts you need to stamp numbers from 1 to 6 using digital stamps. They can also be applied with an engraver.

Next, the body of the latch is cut out of the profile pipe. It removes three walls the width of the nuts. There is space left along the edges of the body for fastening with self-tapping screws.

Two plugs are cut from sheet metal or strip into the pipe body. Holes for the bolt are drilled in them. The plugs are placed in the body and welded. Welding seams are cleaned.

Now you need to try on whether everything fits by inserting the bolt into the body and putting on the nuts. Then we cut a longitudinal groove in the body for the bolt handle.

You also need to remove the internal chamfer on the nuts and cut grooves into them for the pins on the bolt. One groove is made on each nut opposite the desired code number.

Now you need to install the handle on the deadbolt. We drill it and cut an M6 thread. Then we assemble the lock and screw a screw with an extended nut into the hole under the handle.

Next, we drill mounting holes in the latch body. The counter part for the bolt is made from a piece of pipe, with an insert with a hole for the bolt.

After this, the lock can be screwed onto a gate, gate or door. The latch can only move if the nuts are set to the correct code.

    It’s beautiful, it’s a good idea, but this gadget doesn’t work - in the closed position of the latch, the pins fit into the nuts and it’s impossible to turn them. You can only “break” the code in the open position, and this is nonsense. The nuts had to be placed to the right of the bolt handle.

      Even if this is corrected, the code is easily selected by one digit.
