At any time of the year, our body needs vitamins, which we get primarily from vegetables and herbs. In the autumn-winter period, we feel a particular shortage of vitamins such as A, C, and B vitamins. A large amount of them is contained in green onions.
But what to do when it is impossible to buy juicy green onions on the market without chemicals? Answer: grow it yourself. This is an excellent saving for the family budget, considering the price of purchased greens.
Required:
- 1 plastic bottle 5 l.;
- 1 plastic bottle 0.5 l;
- 30% cow manure;
- 70% land;
- small onion sets.
Sprouting green onions in plastic bottles:
Before planting onions in bottles, you need to prepare them. To do this, using a bottle cutter or improvised means, make holes with a diameter of up to 1 cm on a 5-liter bottle. Place them at a distance of approximately 1 cm from each other.
Also make holes at the bottom of the bottle, but leave a little more distance between them.
In a basin or deep container, mix 70% soil and 30% cow dung. Mix thoroughly to ensure the contents are homogeneous.
Peel the onion from excess peel, but do not remove it completely. Fill the bottles with soil and place the bulbs in the holes with the bottom inward.
Cut off the bottom of a half-liter plastic bottle and make one hole in the lid. To do this, you can use an awl or a screwdriver.
Screw the small bottle with a cap into the larger one. Position it so that the bottom is on top. This will be a device for watering.
To water the onions, simply pour water into a small bottle. The liquid will be evenly distributed throughout the 5-liter container.
After 3 days, you can notice the first green tendrils of green onions. Periodically add water to the half-liter bottle.
After 6-7 days, the onion pods will reach 7-10 cm. At this stage of growth, it is important for the plants to provide good humidity. It's easy to do! Spray the green onions with clean water from a spray bottle.
On the 13th day, the green onion pods in the bottle look more like a small bonsai. It's time to harvest. Using sharp scissors, cut off the green part of the onion and place in a bowl.
The remaining bulbs in the bottle will still produce green shoots. Therefore, do not rush to throw them away, continue to water the bulbs.
And from the harvested harvest you can prepare a delicious dish. In a bowl, combine water and tapioca starch, add chopped green onions and stir. The resulting sauce can be poured over main courses, fried corn and appetizers.
