Felt alphabet

Today, stores provide children with a huge selection of various toys made from plastic, material, wood, metal, etc. Some people like to design, while others fall asleep hugging their soft teddy bear and wake up in the morning. But the best toy for a child is the one made by the mother’s hands. Today, it has become popular among young mothers to make soft felt letters at home: they are pleasant to the touch, soft, and easy to sew. Any woman who knows how to hold a needle and thread can get down to business. The most important thing is that letters can be sewn while interrupting to do other things, especially for those who have a small child. First, housework, but in your free time you can do your favorite creative activity. All children like felt letters, not to mention the tiniest ones, who love to study everything and become tactilely familiar with objects. These letter toys are easy to wash in a washing machine at high temperature and spin at four hundred revolutions. What is surprising is that the letters do not stain, and the colors remain as bright as before washing. Before letting a small child play with the alphabet, you should definitely wash it, because at this age the baby will taste what the letters are made of, and if teeth have already appeared, then chew on it a little.

Before you start sewing the alphabet, you need to choose the color of felt. Then decide on the thickness of the fabric - it should be approximately one millimeter. It should be taken into account that if the felt is hard, it will be much easier to cut out elements from it, and the letters, in turn, will be more voluminous.
In the version that is presented, multi-colored letters are shown, and those letters that have a pair (b-p, zh-sh, z-s, etc.) have one color. This was done specifically to make it easy for a child to learn the alphabet in preparation for school, and the color will help, accordingly, to determine and remember which letter it is - vowel or consonant, voiced or unvoiced.
Materials and tools

After we have chosen the felt, we proceed to selecting the floss threads. They need to be folded six times, and the floss should be the same color as the fabric. The stitching, which differs in color, looks very interesting. An original and creatively executed alphabet will delight not only the child, but you and your friends. It is better to fill felt letters with holofiber. For ease of stuffing, a bamboo stick is perfect. Four hundred grams of holofiber will be enough.
Before work, you also need to stock up on a set of needles with convenient double eyes, pins and scissors. As for the latter, scissors should always be well sharpened so as not to damage the fabric, and the pointed ends of the scissors will help you cut out any element without difficulty. It is worth noting that scissors for felt and paper are completely different, so you should only use those that are specifically designed for fabric.

Apply cut out letters to the felt and outline the outline with a marker. The marker will wear off over time. The sides of the letters must be taken into account, and the line should not be visible after stitching. It is best to pin paper letters to the fabric with pins.

Each letter consists of two elements, which are sewn together with a buttonhole stitch. You need to step back from the edge about one and a half to two centimeters.
