In order for the concrete floor screed to be completed flawlessly, you need to approach this issue seriously.
First of all, you need to prepare everything necessary so that the concrete floor screed can be completed without delays. For this you will need:
- concrete mixer;
- sand;
- cement (preferably grade 500);
- if there are interruptions in the water supply, make an abundant supply of water;
- hydro-vapor barrier;
- working tools (shovels, buckets, trowel, rule, etc.).
If everything is prepared, let's start work. First, prepare a high-quality base for the future screed. To do this, remove all construction and household waste from the room. Then lay out a hydro-vapor barrier over the entire floor area, under the future screed.
Its edges should protrude onto the walls. After this, place the beacons on the floor.These can be special beacons made of metal (sold in hardware stores), as well as bricks laid level on cement mortar (if the thickness of the screed exceeds the height of the brick). When this work is done, the beacons must be left for a day to secure them to the cement mortar.
The next day after installing the beacons, fill the floor with concrete. In order for the concrete floor screed to be completed perfectly, it is first necessary to prepare a high-quality solution from a sand-cement mixture.
To quickly prepare such a solution, put sand and cement (preferably grade 500) in a 3/1 ratio into a concrete mixer. Turn on the concrete mixer and gradually add water to the cement-sand mixture until the mixture resembles wet clay in consistency. Mix the solution well in a concrete mixer so that all the cement and sand lumps are mixed and turned into a single mass. Then fill the space between the walls and the beacons with cement mortar. As a rule, remove excess solution by moving the rule to the sides relative to the beacons. If the screed has sagged in some place, you need to add cement mortar there and repeat all the movements as usual. Make sure that the edges of the hydro-vapor barrier protrude onto the wall and do not remain under the mortar. Thus, it is necessary to fill the remaining screed.
It is important to carry out each batch of a new batch of cement mortar immediately after the previous one has been produced. So that the already laid screed does not have time to dry. Once the entire floor is filled with concrete, leave it to dry. You need to allocate 2 to 3 days for this. After the floor has completely dried, trim off all the edges of the water vapor barrier protruding from the walls.After you have completed all the above stages of work, the concrete floor screed will be completed.
