I made an attachment for a drill and now I take this set on every trip

To cook food in the forest, you need a fire, for which you need to collect firewood. Also, in order to have somewhere to put a frying pan or saucepan, you need a special device. Plus, the fire does not burn for very long and needs to be constantly maintained. Well, another drawback is a huge amount of smoke.
But there is another way out, to make an almost autonomous slab from a log.

Will need

  • Twist wood drill with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of about 160 mm. Sold at any hardware store.
  • A ring cut from a pipe, or a ready-made pipe holder, can also be purchased or made by yourself.
  • A hex holder for the drill shank, you can also buy it without any problems.

Making an attachment for manual drill rotation

So, we weld the hexagon to the ring and clean it of scale.

To create a lever, we make a wooden handle. It is lightweight and will not weigh you down when carried.

How to use the device?

We take a log of small diameter. In the forest, it can be cut from dry wood with a hacksaw or a manual folding saw.
Drill a hole in its center to the depth of the drill.Having previously inserted the drill into the nozzle with a handle.

Drilling by hand is quite bearable.
We measure out the clay with a drill and make a note.

Now we drill a hole from the side perpendicular to the first one until it intersects with it.

We put pebbles - they will serve as a stand for dishes. Set it on fire with a torch. It turned out exactly like a cooking tile.

It burns perfectly and for a very long time, about 5-7 hours without a break!

The heat is optimal, you can cook food and boil water for tea.

Conclusion

Let you spend more time making such a “tile” than making a regular fire (although it is a controversial issue which is faster to do). But on the other hand, you will have an almost autonomous heat source for an extremely long time. By the way, such tiles practically do not smoke, which is a very big plus.

The idea is certainly a good one, but where to look for such hemp? Should you cut dry trees or carry them with you?

My friend, you opened America to us! T-shaped rotors have been around for a very long time, and the method of such combustion has long been known. He’s just stupid: you can’t drag a dry log into nature, but a damp stump won’t burn, and it’s forbidden to light fires in the forest. You won’t find anything on the shore either, only on a snag, but also if it’s dry...

    1. My drill is transported in a pipe, which is also a composite “crowbar” with threaded attachments: a spatula and a hatchet (I was lucky to snatch a titanium tube about...eleven years ago)
    2. To ignite, the stump does not have to be dry initially; I use this drill to cut shavings into dry trunks, and then follow the pattern.

Yes, that's just the problem with the hemp. Carry a hacksaw with you on a hike or fishing? Rotary? Take three stones, light a fire inside and cook for yourself. And for a long fire there is hope (or node).

We used this kind of fire in the 70s in the Far East on camping trips.

The lid in the last photo is from a saucepan for a gas burner.
Won't it burn out in such a fire?

A chainsaw is also needed for such a log. And if you have a chainsaw, you own the world.

You should try an old tree stump for experiment in the garden, you have a 20 mm drill, and you can use a piece of dry alcohol to start the combustion.

Everyone has welding. Yeah. And carry logs with you, or a chainsaw.
It’s easier to make something like a rocket stove.like in Africa the people in the land do. One is vertical, the other is 45 degrees to it. And it's super lit.
