Will need

To make a reusable mask you will need:
  • pattern paper, ruler and pencil;
  • fabric for the front part of the mask (any thick cotton fabric or thick linen), corduroy will also work;
  • fabric for the inside of the mask (calico, chintz, satin);
  • thin elastic band about 40 cm, threads in the color of the fabric;
  • sewing machine, scissors, chalk for transferring the pattern onto the fabric, iron, tailor's pins, crochet hook or long needle.

Making a mask

1. Draw a pattern on paper in accordance with the picture and cut it out. The pattern is given with allowances.

2. We cut two symmetrical pieces of thicker fabric for the front part (pink fabric in the photo), and two pieces of fabric for the inside (white fabric in the photo).

5. If the front part is made of fairly dense fabric, it is better to stitch the allowances along the middle seam.

8. Turn the workpiece inside out and iron the allowances on the pink part inside out. For convenience, you can lay a finishing stitch along the top and bottom edges of the workpiece. We sew a line along the front side.

11. Using a crochet hook or long needle, thread through the elastic. Cut the desired length (it’s convenient to just try it on) and fasten the elastic. A thin elastic band can be tied, but a thick one can be stitched. The place of fastening can be hidden under the fabric.

    In general, any mask is worn for a longer time...there are also concepts of comfort, which is associated with an elastic band and the ability to breathe freely. I think the pocket needs to be out.
