Cherry berries located on the upper branches are extremely difficult to get. If the tree is young and does not have a thick trunk, then you cannot climb it, and there are not always enough stairs. To collect berries from hard-to-reach places, you can make an easy-to-make picker.
Materials:
- PET bottles – 2 pcs.;
- plastic pipe 40 mm;
- flexible wire 3-4 mm.
Assembly process
The cherry picking device consists of a 5 liter PET bottle with a cut bottom. On one side, its walls are trimmed 5-8 cm towards the neck. Then a comb is cut out of the wire to insert the stalks. It is applied to the bottle, the edges of the wire are bent and wound around the neck. To prevent the comb from bending, you can tape it to the walls of the bottle with tape.
A plastic pipe is inserted into the neck of the collecting device, preferably at least 2 m long. The second end of the tube is inserted into the neck of the whole bottle.
When the comb grabs the cherry and pulls it towards itself, the berries are torn from the stalk and fall down into the bottle through the tube.
Thus, the collecting device does not need to be lowered periodically to unload the cherries. A branch is selected from the tree, and the berries are collected in a row, and quite quickly thanks to the width of the comb.
