To prevent the garden hose from lying around the area, and also to remain intact for as long as possible, it is better to store it in the shade wound on a reel. In this case, it ages less, does not shrink or crack. You can make such a hose reel with your own hands.
Materials:
- Wheel rim;
- pipe 1 inch;
- bearing;
- profile pipe 10x10 mm;
- 3/4" coupling;
- 3/4 inch pipe;
- cart wheels – 2 pcs.
Coil manufacturing process
A bearing must be welded into the wheel rim, the diameter of the inner race of which corresponds to the outer section of the pipe 1 inch.
Next, 2 rings are bent from a thin profile pipe, slightly larger than the diameter of the disk.
Using knitting needles from the same pipe, they are welded to its sides.
A 3/4-inch coupling with ground edges is welded into a section of an inch pipe.
It is then inserted into a bearing on the disc.
It needs to be secured on the front side with a stopper. To do this, you can put a homemade ring on the tube and tighten it with a screw. A 3/4-inch coupling is also welded onto the back of the pipe.This will be the axis of rotation of the coil.
Next you need to weld the coil stand from the pipe. Its base is made U-shaped.
Legs with axles for installing two wheels, an arched support, a previously made axle and a handle are welded to the stand.
The disk and wheels are installed on the stand with the axle.
2 holes for the hose are drilled in the disk itself. One is done in front, the second on the shelf. The edge of the hose is inserted into them, and the length of its base is wound onto a reel.
The fixed hose can be connected to the water supply directly, or it is better to connect it to the axle with a quick-release connection.
In this case, water will flow to the axle fitting from the other side. The result, if done to the correct tolerances, is an excellent, durable coil that is easy to connect and assemble.
