To trim the workpieces strictly at a given angle, a miter box is used. The usual store-bought plastic one allows for cutting only at 90 and 45 degrees. The proposed homemade design allows you to set the workpiece at any angle and cut it perfectly, without the slightest error. Let's look at how to make such a miter box.

Materials:

  • Corner 40x40;
  • sheet steel 2-3 mm;
  • channel 80x50x3;
  • square 10x10 mm;
  • U-shaped profile 15x15.1.5 mm;
  • thin tubes;
  • a rod equal to the inner diameter of the tubes;
  • saw blade for metal.

The process of making a miter box

A disk with a diameter of 100-150 mm is cut from sheet steel. 2 corners 150-200 mm long are welded to it. They need to be aligned in a line. In this case, there should be no protrusions or untreated weld seams from the front part of the disk.

A hole is made in the center of the disk and an M10 thread is welded into it.

With its help, a channel drilled in the center is screwed to it. Its length should at least correspond to the distance between the ends of the welded corners.

A hacksaw frame is welded from a square rod. A saw blade is installed on it.

It should be equipped with a comfortable handle.

From a U-shaped profile and 4 thin tubes it is necessary to weld a guide for a hacksaw.

4 rods are welded onto the channel sole to put it on them.

This is the most critical component of the structure. To make it, you need to use a profile with such a width between the shelves that the square of the hacksaw slides along them without play. The length of the tubes welded to it must correspond to the height of the hacksaw.

Finally, you need to weld a plate with a cut for the blade onto the guide tubes. It will allow you to align the latter strictly at right angles to the sole.

Thus, by loosening the nuts on the disk, you can adjust the angle of the workpiece relative to the saw blade. In this case, the hacksaw, thanks to the guide, will always cut at 90 degrees. The stand from the profile is steamed.

Before using the tool, its rubbing surfaces should be lubricated.
