Many people try to switch to cordless power tools, as it allows them to work away from an outlet. If you are also inclined towards it, but because you have an old network tool, you are in no hurry to buy a new one, then you will like this idea. Look at the example of a jigsaw to see how you can turn a regular power tool into a cordless one.

Jigsaw conversion process
The jigsaw must be disassembled into parts. The conversion process can take a long time, so it is important to remember its internal structure, and it is better to photograph the location of the components before removing them.
If it is dirty, it is advisable to clean and rinse the parts and body.
Next, you need to cut off the front part of the armature shaft of the standard jigsaw engine along with the impeller.
The end of the cut needs to be leveled. This is done on a lathe or drilling machine with an emphasis on the abrasive.
Now you need to drill the sawn shaft from the cut side in order to insert the shaft of the new 18 V motor into it. If you do not have a lathe, you should clamp it into the drill chuck and hold the drill from below. In this case, the hole will be smooth.
The drilled shaft must be additionally drilled on the side, opposite the cavity selected by the drill. A thread is cut into the new hole.
Then you need to make a groove on one side on the 18V motor shaft, and stuff the sawn shaft onto it. To prevent rotation, a screw is screwed into the threaded side hole.
After building up the shaft of the new motor, you need to check it for runout. If everything is in order, then the engine is installed in the housing. Before this, wires are soldered to its contacts. Since the standard location for the new engine is not suitable, you will have to break several plastic jumpers.
The jigsaw is assembled in the same way as it was originally, but with a new motor. The wires from the engine need to be inserted into the jigsaw button.
A battery adapter is screwed to the back of the tool. Then the wires from it are connected to the button.
Before final assembly of the jigsaw, you need to lubricate its rubbing parts.
Finally, the battery is installed on the adapter. After this modification, the tool will become battery-powered.
