Every day you have to deal with minor problems that require unusual solutions. In order not to rack your brains looking for options for carrying out this or that repair, we offer 5 great ideas on how to do it. Who knows, maybe they will be useful to you tomorrow.

1. How to restore the battery terminal pole

If the electrical wiring is shorted, the lead terminal of the battery may melt. As a result, it becomes impossible to connect a terminal to it. Such a damaged battery can be repaired. To do this, you need to cut off the melted, spread lead. A thin steel tube is installed on the pole terminal, the inner diameter of which corresponds to the terminal connected to the battery.

The tube is pressed against the battery with a clamp. Then molten lead is poured into it.

When it hardens, it must be cooled with water so that the metal decreases in volume. Now, resting against the restored terminal, you need to tighten the tube so as not to tear it off.

2. How to fix a broken hammer handle

If the handle of a hammer breaks, you can saw off the damaged part. Then a hole is made in the end of the remaining whole piece. At this point it is ground down from above to fit the hammer.

Now we put the hammer on the handle and screw the bolt into the hole to cut the thread. Then it is unscrewed, shortened to the required length and wrapped again, this time with the washer. That's it, now the hammer won't fall off.

3. Soft pads on the jaws of the vice

It is necessary to cut 2 blanks from the rail equal to the length of the jaws of the existing vice.

2 blind holes are drilled into them along the edges on one side, into which small magnets are pressed.

Thanks to magnets, the wooden pads are attracted to the jaws of the vice. By clamping the workpieces through them, you will prevent deformation of the material. This is very important if you have to compress threads, plastic, etc.

4. Wire stripper

To make such a device, you need to make a shallow transverse cut in the rail with a needle file. Then the blade of the mounting knife is screwed onto it perpendicular to the resulting groove using self-tapping screws and washers.

Now, passing the wire in the groove towards the blade, you can remove its insulation. It is worth making cuts of different depths in order to use the device for working with wires of any cross-section.

5. How to install a dowel in a large hole

During repairs furniture from laminated chipboard it happens that the dowel in the hole begins to dangle.

It is enough to pull it out and insert a short nail, head first.

Then a dowel is driven in from above. The nail will open it, and it will no longer dangle.
