A pole pruner may be needed to trim top branches or harvest the tops of trees. A tool like this on a long shaft can cost $100 or more. So, to save money, it is better to do it yourself by repurposing an old pruner.
Materials:

- 1/2 inch pipe;
- strip 20 mm;
- cable 3 mm;
- bolts, nuts.
Manufacturing process of a pole saw
To make the tool you will need a working part of the pruning shears. Its plastic handles need to be removed.
Then we take a piece of half-inch pipe 16 cm long and saw it in half lengthwise.
One half of the pipe is cut into 2 parts with two oblique cuts at 5 cm from the edge. Then the resulting parts without the central wedge are welded.
2 lugs from the strip are welded to the inner corner of the part. Between them is a flag cut from thick sheet metal. They are then drilled and connected with a bolt.
The flag attached to the eyes is welded to the straight half of the tube. We get a lever to control the pruning shears. To attach it to a rod made of 1/2-inch pipe, you will need to select a sleeve. The latter should be worn on top.The lever is welded to the bushing at a straight half angle.
A similar sleeve is put on the second edge of the rod. A strip handle is welded to it in order to screw the lower stationary blade of the pruning shears.
A handle made from two pieces of strip drilled from the edge is screwed onto the second knife. The last hole is needed to clamp the boss of the cable laid to the lever at the bottom of the rod.
The cable mount must be secured to the lower handle lever. It is made from a bolt drilled along with a thread cut for a screw. The latter is twisted and, together with the bolt, drilled across to the diameter of the cable. 3 nuts are attached to the fastening. Then, with the help of two, it is welded to the lever.
A cable is passed through a 1/2-inch pipe rod and connected to a movable knife blade. The pruning shear itself is put on the rod by a sleeve.
The lower part with the lever is put on the bar in the same way. The extended edge of the cable must be inserted into the fastening and clamped. As a result, by pressing the lever with your hand, you can bring the scissors together. Due to the standard spring, they move back when the lever is released.
