If you only have a drill press and no lathe in your workshop, this is an easy fix at almost no cost. You can make a simple attachment that turns a drilling machine into a lathe. Its functionality is sufficient to process small wooden workpieces.

The manufacturing process of a turning attachment
An L-shaped stand for attaching the tailstock of the machine is assembled from a thin plank using self-tapping screws. For rigidity, a gusset is installed on it.
You also need to make an L-shaped support for turning cutters. A bar is attached to the top of it.
A stand for mounting the grinder gearbox is made from two slats. They are drilled along the edges and screwed to it.
A block is used as the machine bed. Its width should be the same as the distance between the posts attached to the gearbox.Otherwise, you will have to make grooves in the block. The racks are screwed to it with self-tapping screws.
An adapter is made from plywood or chipboard and screwed to the lathe chuck. On the other side, a nut from an angle grinder is secured to it with self-tapping screws.
A groove is cut into the support for the cutters for adjustment. Do the same in the tailstock stand.
Next, you should work on the connecting unit between the machine and the attachment. A blank is cut from chipboard or plywood to the size of the drilling table. It is marked under the holes in it. Then furniture pins are cut into the workpiece.
The completed part is screwed to the frame made of timber using self-tapping screws. This is a very important unit where there should be no backlash, so it is better to tighten the fasteners more.
Pins are cut into the frame to fasten the tailstock posts and cutter supports.
Then the attachment is installed on the drilling table.
The gearbox shaft of the grinder is clamped in its chuck.
A lathe chuck is installed on the latter.
A drill chuck with a conical tip imitating a quill is attached to the tailstock post.
Then it, together with the support stand, is screwed to the frame. Here their heights may not coincide, so it will be possible to shorten them or, on the contrary, increase them.
Thanks to the grinder's gearbox, when starting the drilling machine, the lathe chuck with the workpiece will rotate. This will allow it to be sharpened. If the machine has a speed controller, then it will be great.
