Most often, worm-drive clamps are used to tightly install tubes and pipes on fittings. The problem with them is that they weaken over time and often break off if the screw is overtightened. An alternative to worm clamps are wire clamps, but they are disposable and cannot be released and then clamped again. We offer a hybrid design of a reusable wire clamp.

Materials:

  • Steel plate 3-5 mm;
  • knitting wire;
  • M6 bolt;
  • washer M6.

Screw Clamp Manufacturing Process

To make a clamp, you need to cut a steel plate 20x10 mm. Drill 3 holes in it. An M6 thread is cut in the central one. The outer ones are made with a slightly larger diameter than the wire used.

Starting from the circumference of the hose or pipe for which a clamp is needed, we cut off the wire with a margin of slightly more than 2 times.

She bends in half. At the bend, it should be pressed around the bolt, forming a ring.

The remaining double edge of the wire is bent.

Now you need to wrap the workpiece around the hose.The loop with the ring is located between the folded ends. Then the edges are bent with pliers as shown in the photo.

Next, we attach the bolt to the plate and insert the bent ends of the clamp into its side holes. A washer is put on the bolt, and its end is screwed into the wire loop.

Now if you rotate it, the clamp will tighten.

It can be very securely clamped onto the hose, and then removed and installed again if necessary.
