Spring is coming. Sometimes a window that is too sunny causes us inconvenience - the bright light hurts the eyes or overheats the workplace. It is not always convenient to use curtains. Our blinds will save space, fit into the window opening and eliminate excess sunlight.

The material for this blind will be reed.

Reed blinds

At the beginning of summer, along the shores of lakes you can find already cleaned fin - it is darker in color, as if after uneven treatment with stain. And if you pick up a growing one, then you will need to peel it from the outer shells. Twist slightly around the joints - the outer tubes will easily come off.

Then measure the required length (according to the width of your window) and cut a sufficient number of stems using garden pruners. To assemble the blinds, we need a wooden rectangular frame, which can be made from any suitable material. In this case, an old picket fence served for this purpose. We drive three nails onto the top and bottom strips, having previously marked the distance with a ruler so that they are exactly opposite each other.

We stretch three cords of jute twine (not too tight, leaving tails of approximately 20 cm, they will be useful to us later). This is the basis.

Next, we begin assembling the blinds, sequentially tying all the stems to the base. This will require a thinner cord and your patience. Thin ribbons, which you can get by cutting an unnecessary old shirt, are also suitable as a cord.

You can decorate your blinds using colorful ribbons. This activity is pleasant for those who like monotonous work, although things move much faster than it seems at first.

You can hang our product on a window using a wooden cornice placed sideways (or take a bunch of reeds and tie it tightly in several places). The blinds turn out to be quite light, so choose not very massive material for it. Tie the ends of the main cord to the curtain rod and enjoy the pleasant twilight.

When it is no longer needed on the window, it can serve as a decorative panel. Tie a bouquet of dried flowers to it, place light drawings or a calendar.

If you want to decorate a storage box with such a mat, measure the perimeter and height - and get to work. Just don’t forget to seal the ends (chintz or satin of a suitable color can serve for this - just glue a strip of fabric in such a way as to hide them).
