Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to prevent holes from appearing in clothing. Even if you don’t let things get worn out, take care of them, and wear them carefully, you can still accidentally get caught on something and tear your clothes. But if you really love it and really suit you, you shouldn’t buy a new one. Learn how to quietly remove holes from clothing using a simple stitch using thick cotton fabric as an example. This method is also suitable for knitwear and jeans.

Materials

First of all, you need to select threads that exactly match the color of the fabric. It is best to take polyester thread, and choose the density depending on the type of fabric. Regular polyester thread is used in lightweight fabrics and also with some types of thin denim. But thicker ones are found in thick jeans, burlap, and suit fabric.

For light fabrics, it is best to use needles No. 11 or 12. For thick fabrics and jeans, use needles No. 7.

Process

The first stitch is given from inside the hole and brought out. This way we will secure the ponytail and knot discreetly, from the inside out.

And then, using movements from left to right and back, we make several stitches perpendicular to the cut.We insert the thread from the front side on the left, at a distance of 1-2 mm. from the hole, we bring it out from the wrong side on the right, at the same distance. Now everything is the other way around - first we enter from the top right, we output from the bottom left.

Do not pull the thread too much; it should be slightly visible. But the edges of the cut themselves must touch. If the distance between the edges of the cuts is large, at the end, after the stitches have completely passed through, the thread should be pulled up a little.

After you repair the hole, don't forget to sew a reinforcement stitch. It is best to fasten the tip of the thread on the back side of the fabric several times in one place.

Repair from the inside out

Of course, stitches that are familiar to many from the inside out are made faster and it is easier to repair the hole. But this should be done only if the fabric at the cut itself is in close contact, and when stitching from the inside out, a dense and noticeable seam will not form.

After the repair, you should cut off the excess threads, and also run a hot iron along the seam from the inside out. In this case, it is better to lay the fabric on a hard surface. And to ensure that nothing else breaks in this place, you can glue a small piece with an iron adhesive interlining, and for highly stretchable fabrics - doublerina.

With proper skill and training, repairing clothes will no longer cause you any difficulties. And things will look like new, even if they are torn in the most visible place.
