To make it you will need the following materials:
1. Base for the postcard. Thick A4 size paper, folded in half.
2. Medium weight paper with a pattern suitable for a man's shirt. You need 2 sheets of this paper, A4 size. Moreover, it will be better if at least one of the sheets is double-sided. That is, if you search for a texture on the Internet in order to print it on a printer, then one sheet will need to be printed on both sides with the same texture.
3. Sewing machine with matching threads.
4. Shirt buttons or brads – 7 pieces.
5. Glue – pencil or any other glue.
6. Double-sided thin tape for gluing shirt elements to paper.
7. Moment glue or glue gun.
8. Any additional decor, in our case the Lacost logo.
The first step when making any clothing is to take measurements and make a pattern for individual elements. The same thing needs to be done here.Using the proposed patterns, you need to cut out the details of the shirt.
If the paper is one-sided, then the collar element must be cut out twice in a mirror image and the parts glued together. The collar should have texture on both sides! The collar needs to be folded along the lines.
Now you need to stitch the pocket details, placket and collar on a sewing machine.
Paper is sewn just like fabric, and there is no need to be afraid of anything. If the paper is thin and tears along the seam, you need to increase the stitch length. All threads are threaded inside out and glued with an adhesive pencil.
Pay special attention to the collar, as there is no reverse side there. The threads need to be tied in knots, carefully cut and secured with a drop of glue to prevent unraveling.
With the largest piece of the shirt attached to the base of the card, you need to mark an inclined line at the top. Carefully trim the card base along this line. The collar element will be glued onto it.
The card is assembled in the following order: The collar is glued to the base first, at its very bottom. The collar and stand will add volume to the card.
Then the largest unstitched part is glued.
Brads are attached to the bar or buttons are sewn with thread, all except the top one. The button decor is attached to the pocket element in the same way. The top button has a special approach. It needs to be filled with threads and, when finished, glued to the collar stand. The legs of the brad are removed, and the cap is glued with a “Moment” or a glue gun.
When all the elements of the shirt are assembled, you can glue 1.5-2 cm of the collar to the shirt at the base. The shirt will take on a realistic look.
