There probably isn’t a single handicraft mother who wouldn’t transform rather boring jeans into some kind of wardrobe item for her children. Things made from the ever-current blue denim, with natural or artificially created scuffs, are worn with pleasure and for quite a long time by little fashionistas both as clothing and in the form of various accessories.
One of these, for example, is a denim baseball cap. Practical, fashionable, it will not only protect your beloved son from the bright sun on summer days, but will also become his favorite headdress, captivating him with its extraordinary comfort.
Sewing a baseball cap with your own hands is very simple. All you need to do is stock up on jeans, and also use the ready-made pattern included with the master class.

Before starting work, jeans need to be ripped open, washed, dried and ironed thoroughly.
From these you should cut out the following parts of the baseball cap:
1. Front wedge (2),
2. Side wedge (2),
3. Rear wedge (2),
4. Visor (2),
5. Strap (2).
The pattern is given taking into account all the necessary allowances for seams and processing.
Advice: it is best to cut a baseball cap from soft, not too thick jeans, in order to avoid large thickness at the junction of the wedges, which will be quite difficult to sew. And the product itself may turn out to be too rough and unpleasant to wear.

Sewing a baseball cap should begin by connecting the wedges.
The front and side wedges should be sewn together along the side sections using a 7 mm seam.

The seam allowances for connecting the wedges must be ironed and stitched close to the seam.

After this, you need to cut off the allowances close to the finishing lines.

From the inside, cotton bias tape should be sewn over the gusset seam. For convenience, you first need to baste it or pin it with pins, positioning it symmetrically relative to the seam. This should result in double finishing lines from the face.

In the same way, you need to attach the back wedge of the baseball cap. Then, in the same way, but in a mirror image, you need to assemble the second part of the baseball cap.

After this, using the technology described above, both parts of the baseball cap need to be sewn together.

The front part of the baseball cap can be decorated with a denim applique made by yourself or purchased in a store, stitching it 3.5 cm from the bottom cut.

One part of the visor should be sealed by gluing a special gasket to it (for example, dublerin). Then both parts of the visor must be placed face down on each other and sewn along the outer rounded cut (seam - 7 mm). The turning seam allowance must be cut with the ends of the scissors, as shown in the photo.

Next, you need to turn the visor out, and stitch the seam allowance onto its lower part (close to the seam).

Then the visor must be ironed from the wrong side. Both layers of the visor should be basted together along the edges of the stitching to the baseball cap.

The visor prepared in this way must be pinned to the baseball cap.

The parts of the straps should be folded in half lengthwise (the face is on the inside) and stitched along the short and long sides (seam - 5 mm).
Then they need to be straightened onto the face, straightened out the corners with a thick needle and ironed thoroughly.

You need to put soft Velcro on one strap, and hard Velcro on the other.

The straps must be basted on the back wedges of the baseball cap (along the arched cutout), departing 10 mm from the bottom cut.

Next, the arched cutout on the back gussets of the baseball cap needs to be edged. To do this, the bias tape must first be sewn on the front side of the baseball cap, placing a stitch in its ironed fold. In this case, the trim should be applied face to face with the product.

Then the tape needs to be wrapped on the wrong side of the baseball cap and basted with hand stitches. Then along the edge of the arched cutout you need to lay 2 finishing lines. The second line should secure the flying edge of the binding.

Next you need to edge the bottom edge of the baseball cap.
The first line along the bias tape must be laid in exactly the same way as when processing an arcuate cut.

The seam allowance should be stitched onto the bias tape, leaving no more than 1-2 mm from the seam.

The flying edge of the binding must also be secured with a machine stitch running close to its ironed fold.

The bias tape should be folded onto the wrong side of the product and sewn using bias hand stitches.

For ease of further processing, the bottom of the baseball cap needs to be ironed from the inside out.
The ends of the binding must be tucked under and secured with hidden hand stitches. In the same way, you need to sew the flying edge of the binding to the seams of the wedges.
The marking threads can then be removed.

If necessary, the finished baseball cap can be carefully steamed.
