The only thing worse than wet weather is wet shoes. Rain and slush are constant challenges that the stormy season poses to your boots. They can be dried quickly using a dryer. But if you don’t have it at hand, don’t rush to put a leather pair on the battery. You don't want your shoes to become deformed and fall apart. There are five ways to quickly dry it without harming its appearance.

No. 1. Microfiber towel

When you find yourself at home with wet feet, first worry about your health. A hot bath and wool socks won't hurt. And once your feet are warm, it's time to worry about your boots.

What should be done:

1. Firstly, they should be washed well. They are already wet, they have nothing to lose. Take a sponge and wash them thoroughly with soapy water in a bowl of warm water.

2. Next, place them on a newspaper and prepare a towel. Preferably not too new. It would be good if it was a material that quickly absorbs moisture. For example, bamboo fiber or microfiber.

3. Roll the towel into a roll.

4. Unfasten your boots. Insert one end of the roller into one shoe all the way to the toe, and the other end into the other shoe.Fasten your shoes.

Microfiber will absorb moisture and will need to be replaced after some time. If possible, change the towel 2-3 times. You can use only two towels, drying them periodically on the radiator.

Pros:

  • the fabric draws out moisture;
  • the shoes dry out and are not deformed.

Minuses:

  • the method can be used if the shoes are slightly damp;
  • boots that are too wet will take at least 12 hours to dry.

No. 2. Toilet paper

Paper absorbs water well. Toilet paper absorbs it instantly. This property can be used to dry shoes. Most likely it will take you a whole roll. But the boots will dry quickly.

How to dry:

1. Unlace the sneakers and fold down the tongue; you can simply unfasten the shoes.

2. Tear the toilet paper into pieces about 1 m long.

3. Scrunch each strip well into a ball.

4. Stuff the crumpled paper into the shoes and lace them up (close all zippers).

5. After 15 minutes, the wet paper should be removed and replaced with dry paper.

This method can dry a pair in about an hour if they were a little damp. And in 4 hours, if it poured from it.

Pros:
  • there is paper in every home;
  • it quickly absorbs water and dries shoes.
Minuses:
  • high consumption;
  • quickly gets wet inside;
  • Difficult to remove when wet.

No. 3. Salt and socks

Salt has several beneficial properties: it can be heated, and it draws moisture even from the air. These qualities allow you to dry even very wet boots in 4 hours. You will need a frying pan, 1 kg of salt and thick socks.

What to do:

1. Wipe off dirt and water from the pair.

2. Unlace and unfasten all zippers.

3. Tuck a sock inside each shoe.

4. Heat salt in a frying pan, stirring constantly for 5 minutes.

5. Using a spoon, pour it into the socks.

6. Fasten your shoes and leave them for several hours.

While drying, steam may escape from the boots. This is the expected effect, don't worry.

Pros:

  • salt heats up quickly and cools down for a long time, which allows it to be used for drying;
  • In addition to drying, salt absorbs water;
  • If the shoes are very wet, socks with salt can be changed several times.

Minuses:

  • salt can burn through a sock if it is very hot and gets inside;
  • too hot salt will dry out the shoes quickly, and a large release of hot steam can deform the leather or fabric.

No. 4. Cold blowing with a hairdryer

When drying with a hairdryer, it is important to consider two things:

1) if you keep it at the maximum mode for a long time, it can burn out;

2) if hot air dries the skin for a long time, it will warp and the glue will peel off.

Considering these facts, dry your shoes using warm or cold air. Periodically turn off the hair dryer and let it rest.

Pros:

  • a hair dryer helps in drying shoes thanks to the directed air flow;
  • gives results in about an hour.

Minuses:

  • equipment may deteriorate;
  • you need to sit for a long time and independently direct the hair dryer into your shoes;
  • hot air can damage the skin.

No. 5. Old newspapers

The most popular and effective method is drying with newspapers. Old newspapers need to be crumpled up and filled with them inside the shoes. Fasten all the locks. After an hour, replace wet newspapers with dry ones. The only negative is that newspapers are not suitable for light-colored boots and sneakers. Printed characters may leave marks on the surface.

Pros:

  • newspapers can be found in every home;
  • I don’t mind spoiling them;
  • they do a great job.

Minuses:

  • cannot be used for white.

Conclusion

So, if you don’t have an electric dryer, it’s not a problem. You know, ways to dry wet boots in a few hours. To achieve the fastest result, combine several methods. For example, stick toilet paper inside and blow dry at the same time. Dry shoes are easy.
