In general, such kits are designed for tricycles, but we will adapt it for a two-wheeler.

Tools and materials


To assemble the electric drive and install it on a regular bicycle, you need to follow the included instructions and have a simple set of tools:
  • set of wrenches;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • electric welding transformer with thin electrodes;
  • strip steel 20 mm wide, 2-3 mm thick;
  • steel corner 25 mm, length up to 100 mm;
  • steel corner 20 mm long 600-700 mm;
  • cutting sander;
  • electric drill with drills for metal, diameter 8.5 mm;
  • bolt 8x30 mm with nut and washers, 6 pcs.
  • sandpaper;
  • metal paint;
  • soldering iron with solder and flux;
  • insulating tape,
  • scotch.

First, the main sprocket of the bicycle on the carriage is dismantled. To do this, loosen and remove the chain, unscrew the nuts and remove the sprocket with the protective disk. Remove the pedals with connecting rods from the axle. In this version of the electric bicycle assembly, we do not need pedals. We immediately put the chain on the sprocket of the electric motor.

The electric motor has 2 angle brackets with holes and is made for mounting on another bicycle model. Therefore, we will need to make special fasteners to mount the engine on the frame in the carriage area.

We cut a piece of strip 200 mm long, and to it (approximately in the middle) we weld a second piece, 120 mm long, with a bend, the length of which is slightly longer than the main pipe of the bicycle frame. We should have a fork that covers the frame tube. From one edge of the fork we drill 2 holes (the distance between them and the diameters must correspond to the holes on the motor bracket) to attach the upper motor bracket.

We drill 1 hole at opposite ends of our fork. After putting the fork on the frame tube, the second end is compressed with a bolt and firmly holds the electric motor on the frame.

To attach the lower bracket of the electric motor, we cut off a corner (about 70 mm) and weld it to the axis of the carriage. Then we make a fitting and mark 2 holes on the corner to connect it to the motor bracket. We drill holes and attach the bottom bracket to the bolts.We clean the welding areas and paint all fastening elements.
The electric motor from this kit has a power of 750 W, so 2 12 V batteries connected in series are used as a source of electricity. As a result, such a battery has a voltage of 24 V and a capacity of 12 Ah.
The batteries are quite heavy and to securely fasten them to the bicycle frame it is necessary to make a frame from a thin corner.

We take measurements and cut metal. We weld the frame. We clean the seams, paint and dry the frame. We place the batteries in the frame.

To support the frame with the battery in the bicycle frame, we make a clamp from the strip that can move and is attached to the vertical rear pipe of the bicycle frame. The front part of the frame rests on the inclined tube of the bicycle frame. By moving the clamp, we firmly press the frame with the battery to the bicycle frame.

We take adhesive tape and wrap the control unit to the bottom of the frame with the battery, grabbing the upper horizontal pipe of the bicycle.

Electrical part


For soldering, we connect the batteries in series with a piece of insulated wire. We install 2 wires from the terminals (24 V terminals). Solder the charging connector.

We connect the cable of wires coming from the bicycle electric drive control handles, which are mounted on the handlebars. We connect the wires by soldering, according to their color and diameter. All connections are securely insulated with electrical tape.

Using small bolts, we connect the power wires from the battery with similar wires from the control unit. We hide all connections under tape.
We check the operation of the controls and begin to test the electric bike.
