What you will need:
- pallets 1200x800x140 mm;
- self-tapping screws 160 mm, 50 mm;
- OSB board.
The process of making a garden sofa
To make a garden sofa, you need to twist 3 pallets together. For this, 160 mm self-tapping screws are used, which are screwed into timber spacers. First, the first and second pallets are twisted, then the third is attached to the second.
To make the backrest, you need to remove 2 outer trim boards with spacers from one pallet. The 3 exposed inner rails are then trimmed. You only need to leave 5 cm from them.
The backrest is placed on a base of three pallets. To secure it, you need to make supports from boards previously torn from it. They are screwed with 50 mm screws, the back itself is additionally connected to the seat with 160 mm screws.
To make the armrests of the sofa you will need 2 more pallets. They need to be cut, keeping only the outer board.It will allow you to make a connection with the back, thereby increasing the rigidity of the structure. Cut pallets are also screwed onto self-tapping screws.
From the boards remaining after cutting you need to make shelves for the armrests. They are screwed on with short self-tapping screws.
Making a garden chair
For the base and back of the chair you will need 4 pallets. 3 of them need to be cut to size 650x800 mm and twisted together. A backrest is made from the fourth pallet and dismantled boards, similar to a sofa.
The sides of the chairs with armrests are assembled from a couple more pallets and boards. That is, the material consumption is the same as for a sofa, only there is less seating space.
Table assembly and furniture upgrading
For the table you need to connect 3 whole pallets together on top of each other. The tabletop for it is made of OSB board.
All furniture must be processed with a grinder, burrs removed, and then burned with a gas burner.
The scorch marks will tint it, and in addition, the burnt surface will increase the wood’s resistance to rotting. Finally, the furniture is varnished.
This will prevent the wood from darkening from the sun and precipitation. For convenience, you can sew removable pillows on armchairs and sofas.
