Experienced gardeners have noticed that trees of the same variety and age planted in the same year begin to bear fruit at different times. Some have a harvest after 2-3 years, while others don’t even have it after 5 years. It's all about the conditions in which the seedling develops. To speed up growth, plant it this way.
What you will need:
- Plastic pipe 50-60 mm;
- pipe plug;
- compost or humus;
- crushed stone or broken brick.
Tree planting process
At the site where the tree is planted, you need to dig a round hole 80 cm in diameter. Then it goes deeper under the cone as long as the length of the shovel is enough.
A piece of plastic pipe is inserted into the hole at an angle, and a layer of crushed stone or broken brick is thrown onto the bottom. This is drainage similar to that used in potted houseplants.
Having laid the edge of the pipe with a stone, the hole on top is filled with a substrate consisting of a mixture of dug soil and compost in a 1:1 ratio. You don’t need to fill it completely, but leave as much space as you need to plant the seedling.
A tree is planted in the hole prepared in this way, as usual.
Now every week you need to water it from above and pour half a bucket of water into the pipe. To prevent moisture from evaporating, the tube is closed with a plug.
Due to watering into the drainage, the bottom will always be wet, so the roots immediately begin to grow deeper. The problem with young trees is that their root system first grows in width, since the available moisture from watering and precipitation is at the top. It is a fickle and poor source of water. When the roots are stimulated to grow downward, they will be able to absorb groundwater the next season, so soon there will be no need to water the young garden. Having an unlimited supply of water, the tree will soon begin to bear fruit, at least 3 times faster.
