It is better to feed poultry using a feeder, as otherwise most of the food will be trampled into the ground. This applies not only to chickens, guinea fowl and turkeys that are prone to raking, but also to ducks and geese. Building a simple feeder is not difficult at all. To do this, you need inexpensive materials from a hardware store.

What you will need:

  • Plastic sewer PVC pipe 110 mm;
  • plugs for pipe 110 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • mounting clamps for pipes 110 mm – 2 pcs.

The process of making a poultry feeder

As the base of the feeder we take a pipe 1 meter long. We retreat 15 cm from the edge and drill a hole in it for the crown. Next, we drill to the opposite edge with the same step. After this, we use a crown to make larger holes through which the bird will have access to the food.

As a result, we get 6 windows. Their edges should be sanded to remove sharp edges.

We take another 1 meter of pipe without a socket and install a standard plug in it. To do this, the edge will have to be heated so that the plastic becomes plastic.

Then we cut out a large long window on the last pipe, stepping back a little from the edges.

Now you need to heat the edge of the first workpiece and insert the second one into it.

Next, we cut a piece of pipe lengthwise, heat it, and flatten it into a sheet.

We cut out 2 plugs from it.

One is glued to the edge of the pipe with a long window, and the remaining one is in the middle.

A regular turned plug is placed on the second end of the pipe. You need to attach a comfortable handle to it.

We insert one pipe into another.

All that remains is to mount the device on the wall in the chicken coop. To do this, it is enough to use 2 clamps.

Thus, we get a feeder with windows for simultaneous feeding of 6 birds with an internal retractable block that can be pulled out and food poured into it.

A partition in the center allows you to pour, for example, wheat into one compartment, and corn or mixed feed into the other.
