Many summer residents and gardeners give up their hobby due to back pain when digging and loosening the soil. The size of the plots is often too small to make it worthwhile to buy a tiller for it. To cultivate your land manually and with minimal strain on your back, make yourself this tool.
Materials:
- 1/2 inch pipe;
- sheet steel 3 mm;
- M10 bolts with nuts – 2 pcs.;
- steel rod 10-15 mm.
Tool making process
It is necessary to cut two pieces of 40 cm length from the pipes.
From sheet steel you need to cut 4 L-shaped parts with side lengths of 90 and 60 mm, and a width of 30 mm.
They are assembled together, clamped in a vice, and drilled with a 10mm drill bit at the end of the long edge.
Next, you need to weld L-shaped parts onto the ends of two 40 cm long tubes. Then they are screwed together.
Now you need to cut 8 rods, 20 cm long. They need to be welded into tubes of 4 pieces. On the first of them they are located from the edge, and then in increments of 10 cm. On the second tube, they should be welded with a distance of 5 cm from the edges, and then 10 cm between them.It is important to set them in the right direction. They should be welded parallel to the direction of the welded side of the L-shaped plates.
A short T-shaped handle from a 20 cm long pipe is welded onto one tube parallel to its teeth. A long handle to suit the user’s height is similarly welded to the second.
The teeth are sharpened using a grinder.
The tool is painted.
To use the tool, you need to drive it into the ground by pressing the short handle with your foot. Then it tips over like a pitchfork. The resulting soil is broken between the teeth. We get loose soil without large lumps, practically without straining your back.
