The seeds of many fruit trees germinate in the spring and quickly turn into young trees. If they are not removed in time, the garden will soon turn into an impenetrable grove. It is best to pull out such seedlings along with the roots. Since they are deep, it is very difficult to do this with your hands. It's easier to use a homemade device.
Materials:
- Old drum brake pads – 2 pcs.;

- stud, bolts, nuts, washers M10;
- steel strips 30, 50 mm.
The manufacturing process of a weed removal device
To use as a lever for the device, a profile pipe of a convenient length is selected, based on your height. Essentially, it will work like the handle of a shovel, so the length is similar. A hole is made at the edge of the pipe.
Then, using a pin, nuts and washers, the pads are screwed to it.
A sponge made of a 50 mm strip 100-200 mm long is welded to the pads. It will add rigidity to the blocks, connecting them into a single monolithic structure, and will participate in capturing the trunks of seedlings.
The second sponge must be fixed movably.To do this, the lever from the pipe is drilled 15-25 mm lower than the edge of the welded jaw. A piece of 30 mm strip is screwed through the resulting hole. The bolt is not clamped to act as an axle.
A cut for the strip is made in the stationary jaw.
As a result, it should extend beyond the last one by 30-40 mm. A second sponge from a wide strip is welded to its edge at a right angle.
Thus, when the lever moves, the jaws are compressed. Now, by grasping the trunks of the seedlings with them, pressing the lever towards yourself, due to the arc-shaped stop, you can pull out the tree by the roots. This will require much less effort than using your hands.
